Put People Before Profits!

Ending the consultant culture in the Australian Public Service

We believe in a public service that works for all of us, upholding values of transparency, accountability, and fairness.

Recent events, such as the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) tax scandal, have shed light on the alarming practices employed by consultants, where they profit from assisting multinational tax dodgers while advising the government on tax laws. This scandal has not only harmed our community but has also exposed the deep-seated mistrust surrounding the use of costly consultants in our public service and also erodes trust in the integrity of our public service.

It's time for action! Join us in urging the Albanese Labor Government and Treasurer Jim Chalmers to take decisive steps towards a more transparent and accountable public service.

We call on the government to ensure that PwC faces appropriate penalties, develop a robust Code of Conduct for consultants with significant penalties for breaches, enforce the requirement for consultancies to disclose client lists to identify conflicts of interest, establish a debarment regime to ban unethical consultant firms from government contracts, and outline a clear roadmap to bring all consultancy work in-house within the Australian Public Service.
