How can we be an innovative nation when we cut the core of our research and development

High quality research absolutely needs public funds. CSIRO count among the best representative of Australian oceanographic and antarctic research. Don’t kill CSIRO!

Please look out for this group and the sensational work they do. It would be a major loss to not support them. It was this group that discovered the Hole in the Ozone Layer

Now more than ever with the reality of the dire situation of climate change, environmental damage and the uncertainty of the future of our precious planet Earth, we need the assistance of the CSIRO scientists to help us come up with appropriate responses to deal with these life pressing issues.

Malcolm, please don’t keep on letting us down, we need more scientist assisting us to tackle the challenge of Climate Change not less

Stop taking our country backwards

At this moment in history, the CSIRO is essential for its potential to contribute to the welfare of our planet. Australia needs to be directing more resources to the organisation, hiring more scientists and giving them our support, not the insults which have been so common of late.

Scientific research is the cornerstone of an advancing society. Cutting funding to the CSIRO is just going to put us further behind the rest of the world.

CSIRO brings together a breadth and depth of scientific skills and knowledge that canot be matched anywhere else in Australia. It provides a point of refernece and a reuptale hub not just for other Australian scientists, b ut for scientists to contribute to evidence-baxsewd decision-making domestically and itnerantionally. With climate change, food secutiry and water available presenting global challenges it is essnetial that we don not lose that expertise. Once dispersed, it will likely never be restored.

CSIRO has achieved wonders through the dedication of Australian scientists despite cutbacks by successive governments. Imagine what they could achieve with some positive support.

To exactly target scientists in areas most required in Australian research, (eg Land and Water and other relevant land related areas of CSIRO); the Government is an absolute disgrace in my opinion.


We cannot live and eat drones, and “innovation” and “exiting times” to be an Australian.


We need land, properly managed, those scientists who complete the very necessary research, in areas like, climate, marine science, ecology, soils, water, forestry, agriculture, in all of these areas measuring, assessing, changes to the land/water now and for the future.


If you don’t have the data, you can’t pass it on to relevant people like farmers. If you don’t have longitudinal research, you can’t make any sort of long term predictions.


Needed is a Government that has the courage, (the balls if you like) to properly confront climate change that is upon us, NOW. The waffle I’ve heard is a disgrace in my opinion.


It is the science of the land and related parts of the CSIRO that should be being added to, not reduced.


I am 72 and what is the future for my children, my grandchildren, their children?


Dire as I see it;, while the Government fiddles, and Rome burns.


I grew up with a CSIRO that was a very respected institution. It was a wonderful institution.
