It is important as Prime Minister you speak to our scientists.

We should be INCREASING our number of scientists employed by the people.

NOT decreasing the number.


Pretty shameful considering we were once a nation of inovation.

Dear Prime Minister,

I would like to add my voice to this group scientists in regards to arguing against promised cuts to climate sciences at the CSIRO. My admiration to our CSIRO is boundless! Personally, some of their discoveries helped improved my health, greatly adding to my wellbeing. As a citizen, I am so grateful for their insights into impending climate change, how it will affect all of us whilst, at the same time, putting forward possible solutions to this problem. As an Australian, I am so proud of CSIRO achievements as they are world-class – the very top!

Please do reconsider and move in the opposite direction, that is: INCREASE SPENDING ON RESEARCH THAT AFFECT US ALL _ THE ENVIRONMENT AND SPECIALLY THE CHANGING CLIMATE. AND REMEMBER< THAT IS THE WORLD IN SHICH YOUR OWN CHILDREN’S CHILDREN WILL LIVE ON!

CSIRO’s track record speaks for itself. It is imperative that the expertise of the research scientists is included in decisions of such overwhelming importance.

Every day the reality that our climate and other CSIRO scientists are ESSENTIAL becomes more obvious to Australians. When will it become obvious to the people in your administration, Prime Minister? When will it become obvious to you? And if you already understand this, but are pretending you don’t, when will the people of Australia realise you are willing to ignore Reality in order to placate political cronies.

CSIRO should be expanding not contracting. CSIRO is responsible for such world leading Innovations and inventions as WIFI, plastic bank notes, Hendra virus vaccine, extended wear contact lenses, Aeroguard, total wellbeing diet, RAFT polymerisation, BarleyMax, self-twisting yarn and Softly washing liquid to name a few. It is madness not to nurture the top scientific brains in Australia who have world-wide recognition and respect for the top level work that they do. Young people should be encouraged to follow in their footsteps not discouraged by the vandalism of this world renowned organisation. Mediocre politicians and bureaucrats seem determined to take Australia down the road to becoming the “stupid country”. They should be ashamed of themselves for their lack of foresight.

It is absolutely unbelievable that we as taxpayers would fund a great asset such as the climate change in Australia website, worth millions of dollars, and then let a new CEO of CSIRO trash it along with the complete section. It lets researchers forecast regional climate change for local impact analysis, which is desperately needed in the world’s driest inhabited country, as food security becomes a global issue, our dams dry up affecting water supplies and even power supplies in Tasmania, heat waves greatly affect the elderly, temperatures keep breaking records and bushfire risk and intensity increases. Lets sack this CEO who does not value the national interests of Australia and the world.

We need to keep those scientists and specialist personnel in Australia doing their passionate best for all our futures. Climate change is real and we need the data they generate to gauge how our efforts Are impacting on it. Please save these jobs for our futures too.

CSIRO has been a shining light in WORLD scientific endeavor and is a focus for serious research and developments within the Australia scientific community. It is a very retrograde step to diminish CSIRO in any way.

The time is well past to place the issue of climate change front and centre of the political agenda. Australia and the world can no longer afford to ignore this issue.

All divisions of CSIRO should be growing, not shrinking. Science is our best hope for the future of all mankind
