For months we’ve been asking Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to step in and stop the cuts to climate science at the CSIRO – now secret tapes have revealed that the Government's attitiude towards climate science is behind the cuts.

'It's a fundamental shift away from curiosity-led research toward impact... The federal government was CSIRO's most important 'customer', and it no longer wanted what the climate scientists were selling.

'I don't mean to be insensitive,' said Dr Marshall, 'but you have to get real about your customer.'"

    I have seen the detrimental effects on the energy resources industry by your government. As a nation, we need to be investing in the future. Infrastructure is great (another industry I work in) but not sustainable..

    Move out of the dark ages you live in Malcolm and consider the importance of survival. Placing your head in a hole in the ground won’t make our description of the world (science) go away. It is reality.

    If jobs and growth are goals we need scientific research. If climate change and population pressures are issues, we need scientific research. If we want to increase agricultural productivity, we need scientific research.

    Malcolm you and the LNP should be ashamed of yourselves., The CSIRO is vital to this country. Try cutting the SUPER FUNDS FOR POLITicians to match the working class and there will be ample funds for the vital research of the CSIRO

    The liberal govt is destroying science in this country .It ought to be ashamed and embarrassed at what it’s showing the rest of the world .It shows no respect whatsoever for Australian scientists and the dedication they have to their work to improve life on this precious unique planet.

    Prime Minister, you need to get real about science if you wish to make a resilient Australian economy. Cutting science in CSIRO is not the way to go, Perhaps instead you should be cutting Larry Marshall and getting somebody who understands the needs of the country and unterstands science for ‘public good’.
